Felt House Along Week 4 : Produce Market
This week I worked on the most detailed wall for our felt playhouse - the market. Like the other sides, I chalked on the placement & sizes for all add-on pieces. I wanted the kids to really be able to "shop", so I designed a vase that opens at the top to hold fabric flowers and 4 half pockets for produce shelves.
I used my handy printer fabric (I love this stuf!f) to make the signage to stitch on them.
The grocery bag has velcro on the back & velcro stitched on the wall for shopping convenience. I used pinking shears to give it the "paper bag edge" at the top. The door is the actual door of the house with a reversible Open/Closed sign. To make the sign, I cut out the letters & stitched those on to two pieces then sandwiched an upside-down V shape in the top & stitched them together. I added a fuzzy side of velcro at the top of the V on both sides & a loop piece of velcro to the window, so it would stay on.
I'll make some felt fruits & veggies to stock the store. I'm not sure who will be more excited to try it out - me or the kids.

Thank you for the inspiration to create a grocery store wall for our pvc pipe felt playhouse! to go more with our homeschooling theme, it will be 10 shelves/baskets (1 cent, nickel, dime, quarter, 50 cent, $1, 5,10,$20) and makes the usage of the felt baskets more flexible. We will learn coins, money, counting, addition, and so much more! I would have never thought to create this if not for finding this post.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Wholeson is no circumcision.
Keep your baby whole. Not just girls, but boys too. All babies are made perfect!
