Laminated Cotton = The Ideal Beach Bag
Yesterday kicked off CraftShare & our first topic, Laminated Cotton, and some helpful tips on how to easily work with it. There are so many uses for this handy fabric - especially for summertime projects. A water resistant beach bag is one of them. Just use your favorite tote pattern and laminated cotton inside & out for the ideal beach, pool or as an all-around diaper bag.
On my bag I used bias tape around the edges, so it would be easy to stitch the lining & outer fabric together & add a little colorful detail:
I also added a pocket before I stitched up the sides, so there'd be a place for all the little stuff:
The great thing is since it's water resistant inside & out, it's easy to brush off sand, wipe off spilled food, sunblock & all the other things that usually wreck havoc on cute summer bags.
Got some ideas on what other summer stuff laminated cotton would work well on? Share what you've got! Add your laminated cotton project to the CraftShare Flickr pool or just share your ideas, questions or tips in the comments below.
Sharing this with my fave link parties too so check them out here!

just got done sewing my first purse with laminated cotton. I've been eyeing it for a while and just now found the time to actually make something for myself!! I had a few problems you can read on my blog. I love this bag for the pool though and putting the bias around the edges would make it sooooo easy!! :) Gotta try this one out!
ReplyDeleteWhere can I find a pattern for this bag?
