As I mentioned the other day, we just got back from a trip to Disney World that was a Christmas gift from my MIL. A complete trip (airfare, hotel, tickets, etc.) with her for the entire extended family of kids & grandkids. 14 people! Our budget, being like most people's these days, does not have room for a trip for our family of 5 to go to the flea circus let alone this kind of thing, so needless to say this was BIG. And my husband & I were a bit stumped - how do you thank someone for something like this??
As we disembarked the evening plane ride home our 5yr old wet his pants, baby was exhaustedly crying and our ride home was circling outside in the snow, so it wasn't a good time to make a big thank you speech. A card didn't seem like enough and so close to the holidays & winter taxes, we're tapped out for buying a gift. And would a purse or candle set even be relevant? So I came up with this card/memory book idea.
I used my Cricut & SCAL to cut out some mickey heads from black card stock and the red Thank You letters using the Disney font. I punched a hole in the corner or each & tied it with a ribbon so it would open like a book:
On each left page I used the Disney font and wrote out each of our favorite memories from the trip:
On the right I printed out photos to go with those highlighted moments:
And on the last pages I wrote a thank you note to my MIL for giving us a magical experience at Disney World and included a pic of the mouse ear hats we got for the kids and all our signatures:
I'm hoping this is a better way to convey our thanks, since she can see how much the trip was enjoyed & will be remembered. What do you think?
Sharing this with my FAVE LINK PARTIES too so check them out HERE!
Perfect!! & Adorable!
ReplyDeleteShe will love it.
This is a great idea for Mother's Day, love it!
ReplyDeleteHow funny....this is exactly our story too. We are a famly of 5 and no way we could get to Disney on our budget. My parents paid for most of our trip. We went right after Christmas. I wanted to do something to think them. This might be just perfect or I could make it for all the kids too and their memories
ReplyDeleteNothing beats a homemade thank-you that requires genuine effort and time.
ReplyDeleteYour MIL will love it! You couldn't buy her anything that will mean as much to her. You're a very thoughtful girl! :-)
