DIY Sherpa Boots? Oh Yeah!!!

I know it's not green or shamrock themed, but I had to share my latest project:  DIY Sherpa Boots!  Microsuede on one side & fluffy sherpa on the other = soooo wonderful to wear.  I had this two-sided fabric left after I made some cuddly baby pants a while back.  I wanted an ideal project and then it hit me when I was staring at my winter boots.  Make some of my own!!  Except these are for indoor use, so they are the ultimate slippers.

First I looked over my winter boots, measured for height, width & angles and made pattern pieces for the front & back leg, heel, top and sole.  Then I cut out the fabric:

I also cut out extra sole pieces from some non-skid fabric.  I sewed the heel to the back leg and the top to the front leg and then sewed these sides together with the seams facing out so the sherpa would show out the sides.

Then with right sides together, I sewed the upper boot and sole pieces together.  Folded down the cuffs and TA-DA:

These babies have become my new favorites for lounging.  So comfy and way better than my old, less-than-stylish slipper socks.  I also made these slip-on baby shoes for my little love bug:

I added a little cupcake ribbon for a dash of color.  The fabric totally takes the hard wearing an active 18 month old can throw at it and with the non-skid fabric soles, she's got the traction she needs too:

These have definitely made this long winter more bearable and with my "always cold" issues, I will probably be wearing them well into summer;)

Sharing these creations with my FAVE LINK PARTIES too so check them out HERE!

    1. The fabric is a sherpa that has microsuede on one side & synthetic sherpa on the other (you can find it at Jo-Ann in the faux fur section - using a half-off coupon makes it really affordable). For the baby/toddler booties I used a pattern from the book, Sweet Booties. I made my own in size 7 by measuring and tracing sections of a pair of outdoor Ugg-style boots I had. As these are large pieces to try to line draw and scan into printable sheets and foot sizes vary so much I can't really post a downloadable free pattern for these - it would take A LOT more time than I have available. Hope this info helps.
