The dress is sleeveless white cotton & fully lined, but what takes it from simple to stylish is this overlay of tulle embroidered with ribbon for the skirt:
The minute I saw this fabric I knew it would be perfect for some cute clothing. The delicate tulle has white & yellow ribbon stitched all over it. It makes things fancy, but not over the top. I also added a few layers of plain tulle underneath to add a little "poof".
I stitched on silky yellow ribbon at the waist and finished it at the back with silk daffodils. Each daffodil has a hand stitched bead at center for a more realistic look.
And I finally got around to making a little something for myself too, so now we'll both be ready for spring! I used the book, Built By Wendy Dresses to make this little number. It's actually two separate one-sided dresses, but worn together, give a layered look:
I used coordinating prints from Timeless Treasures new organic Suzi-Q collection. I love how sunny & happy the designs are and I think the contrast of the tiny & large prints really works with this style:
Now these girls are ready roll out in the spring sunshine!

my word, I love your dress. If we were neighbours I'm sure I'd succumb to a little pleading to make me one! Better still you could have shown me how to make my own dress in exchange for help with your veggie patch. Sigh, today I wish the world was a little smaller!
