A Little Princess Hairdo Hat

My kids love playing pretend, so I've been thinking about fairy tale crafts & costumes for a while now.  It's been a lot of fun coming up with ideas they want to use in their play adventures & today's creation is no exception.  Now that I've got a little princess around the house I thought it would be fun to create her a little themed hairdo hat a bit different than the other styles I've designed - more fanciful & slightly dressy I suppose.  And from that goal The Little Princess Hairdo Hat was born!

I made a princess cone-shaped hat out of bright pink fleece and added some pretty scalloped trim and airy tulle detailing in a softer shade of pink.  I also created a built-in braid with the face framing "hair" like all the cartoon princesses have.  And since all her other hats have been brunette, we went with blonde for a change.

I love watching her run around in it.  It's like having a little storybook character hanging around the house.  And she totally digs it too.

At the rate her hair is growing in (incredibly slowly), I foresee more even hairdo hat ideas in our future.  I also added this style to my shop, The Green Hedgehog, in case anyone else wanted to give their loved one the royal treatment too:)

Sharing this creation with my FAVE LINK PARTIES too so click HERE to check them out!

  1. Very clever! My 7 yr old says she wants me to make one for her - with super long hair like Rapunzel!

    1. As a 41 yr old adult woman bald from Chemotherapy (who decided NOT to go the wig route, but to wear hats and carves instead) who has to attend a fairy princess party in a couple of weeks time and could NOT think of what to wear on her head, as most tiara's etc will not stay on a bald head or be comfortable, or look even half decent, you have just given me an idea for the perfect hairstyle/ hat.
THANK YOU, you have no idea how much this means to me, and for a short time I will not be bald :o)
I just have to work out how to adapt it etc now.
I looked at your other hairdo hats too and they are great (A great idea for adults and children bald from chemotherapy and fighting cancer who need costume wig/ hair for costume parties/ Halloween (Not that we celebrate Halloween here in Australia).

    2. Shazinoz - I'm so touched to hear my hat has inspired you and is helping to give you some hairstyle options during such a challenging time. My mom beat early breast cancer in her forties and I'm hoping for the same successful and healthy outcome for you too. I'm sure you will be the hit of the fairy princess party wearing one!

    3. Thanx for the reply Cheryl.
I am glad to hear your Mum did well, I am classed as cancer free at the moment, but have another 8 months of IV therapy (Herceptin) and 5 years of Tamoxifen and I have another mastectomy and reconstruction to undergo as well (prophylactic), and am awaiting response from the genetics team to see if I qualify for the breast cancer gene testing (my Mum and Aunt both had Breast cancer as well, although I am the youngest).
I will look at your craft closer and see if I can work out how to make an adult sized one (not a great sewer, and OK crafter, but have problems with my hands and one arm).
I am sure I will be a hit I ALWAYS dress up for my nieces birthday parties, even if I am the only adult, as it brings them so much joy, and I have fun too.
