It feels so good when an idea turns out just as you imagined it when it's done. Which is exactly how I feel about this little dress - I'm totally smitten with it.
I came up with the dress design from looking at vintage girl dresses from the 1930's Sears catalog. I saw a ruffled placket with a Peter Pan collar on one and knew that was the look I wanted and set to work designing a similar look, complete with heart shaped button details:
I used a few base pattern pieces like the bodice, sleeves and collar, pulled from a few different patterns I had in my stash, for overall shape. Then I modified them to work together and used my own assembly techniques to get the right design for my vintage-inspired look. I added some contrasting print, elasticized cuffs:
And so the back would have a little something extra too, I used these cute heart snaps as closures (that I'd bought at my sponsor KAMsnaps):
I love how things came together and can't wait to get some pics of my lovey dove wearing it & looking sweet for Valentine's Day. I'm thinking about doing a bit of a tutorial on this dress, if enough people were interested. If you are, just let me know in the comments:)
Sharing this with my FAVE LINK PARTIES too so click HERE to check them out!
