Knit Fabric Infinity Scarf for Christmas Tutorial

Make a quick & easy Christmas scarf using just a 1/2 yard of fabric!  This beautiful Nativity Knit fabric is ideal for it too - the Christmas script messages and sweet imagery perfectly capture the season.

I got this gorgeous knit fabric to carry in my shop, but also because I wanted to make some special outfits for my younger ones this Christmas.  I loved all the Christmas messages, Nativity figures and the dusting of stars:

I've used it to make a sweet Christmas dress for my little girl:

and these cozy knit overalls for my busy 1 1/2yr old.  Now he can look festive and cute for church, but also still run around and be comfortable.

Being 30+ weeks pregnant, I also wanted to be able to make something I could wear now, but for Christmases to come as well.  I love how this scarf adds instant holiday flair over sweaters, jackets, and even plain tees.  Very helpful when your wardrobe is limited by your size like mine is right now!

And it took next to no time to make, which is also key when you don't have many free hours (also me these days!).

Materials:
 - 1/2 yard Nativity Christmas Knit fabric (at least 58 inches wide)
 - Yard stick, rotary cutter/shears, lots of pins, ball point needle, hand sewing needle

With right sides facing, bring together the long sides and pin all the way across, then stitch with a 3/8 inch seam allowance.

The fabric will now be a long tube.  Reach inside to one short open end and carefully pull it inside to reach the opposite end and match up seam and raw edges.  Pin.

Stitch ends together all the way around, but leave a 2 inch gap for turning.

Pull scarf right side out through the gap and it will now be a large circle.  Pin edges of gap opening together and hand stitch closed.  And done!!

Wrap scarf in a figure eight and add to any outfit for some instant Christmastime apparel!

    1. This is a VERY quick sew. If you have 15 minutes, you can make it!

    2. 15 minutes? seriously? knowing my and my lackness of sewing skills I would have to multiply it by 4, but even then it is quick! I think tomorrow I will try to make it :)

    3. If you use a yard/meter stick to cut it's very fast. Just sew the long sides together and then the short sides, so it's definitely quick. I'd love to see it when you make one:)

  3. Beautiful Christmas scarf and clever idea too. I am making one too. I am short and the store bought scarves are too long so I am making some! Thank you for the inspiration.
    Merry Christmas,

    1. Same here Kippi - I'm only 5' so it's great to be able to make my own for even less money and they'll be exactly how I want them.
